iPad... I don't get it.

With all of the fuss over the iPad, I simply have to say that I don't get it. Most people who know me know that I am anything but an Apple fanboy, but I at least understand the appeal for most of Apple's popular products , even if I don't understand people's willingness to pay the "Apple Tax." The iPhone and iPod line are good products. I prefer an Android phone and my Zune but understand why these products are popular.

Then there is the iPad. I admit that I have not had the opportunity to use one, but I really don't see the "need" that they fill. In our current economy, I can't understand shelling our $599 or more for a luxury product, that does little more, functionally speaking, than my phone and netbook.

I am very open to having my mind changed. I also admit that I want to get my hands on one... for about 30 minutes. I think that is long enough to have fun with the touch screen and UI. Then I'd be done.

If you are a iPad fan, please tell me why. No flaming! I seriously want to know. Convince me and maybe, just maybe I may someday get... the Android slates expected to come out in Q3. But, as of right now, I don't get it.
